System Thread Exception not Handled Windows 10

The System Thread Exception not Handled is a Windows error that mainly appears on the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) this can be caused when the Windows process thread into the critical windows service. This Windows error mainly reported by Windows 10 and Windows 8, 8.1 users.

In this error, the users reported to get 10 to 15 seconds before this error display on the screen and after this error, the Windows system immediately goes for the restart and suck on the booting loop due to the computer cannot be started.

Cause of System Thread Exception Not Handled

The BOSD error can be caused by the following things.

  1. Drivers Malfunction
  2. Outdated, Corrupted or Incompatible Drivers
  3. Overclocked Softwares & Apps
  4. Any other relevant point

In case if you’ve recently installed any application or program into your computer system, that causes the BSOD error. Then to quickly fix the issue, you can uninstall the software and get off the error message without having a hassle.

3 Ways To Fix BSOD Error on Windows


There are some methods, you can perform to fix the BSOD error on Windows all these methods are applied by many Windows users and happily fixed it.

1. Check Display Drivers

In Windows, the display drivers are one of the most common reasons for this error to occur. In this method, we have to uninstall the display driver and re-install it to get over the error.

If you can logon on to your Windows computer then skip to Step 2 or else if you cannot able to login into the system then go through Step 1.

Step 1: Boot into the Safe Mode

Technically, In the Safe Mode, the Windows drivers and services were automatically disabled. To run Windows 10 and Windows 8, 8.1 into the safe mode, Turn off your system by force and turn it on  (repeat it for 1 to 4 times) until you see repaid mode on the bootup screen. This will force your system to go to the repair mode / advanced mode.

Click on the Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt. The command prompt window will be popup. Now type the following command and press Enter.

BCDEDIT /SET {DEFAULT} BOOTMENUPOLICY LEGACY

Now type Exit and press Enter. Click Continue.

Restart the system and continuously pressing F8 (Shift + F8 for some) before the Windows logo resembles.  AdvancedBoot Options menu will look. In it highlight Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter. Now log in. You will be working your Windows in Safe Mode.

Step 2: Uninstall Display Drivers

Follow the steps to uninstall Display Driver on Windows 10 and Windows 8, 8.1.

  1. Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Enter the following command “devmgmt.msc” and hit the Enter button.
  3. Now, the Device Manager will be opened. Scroll down to find Display Driver and click to expand it.
  4. Right-click on the Display Driver and select “Uninstall”.

After uninstallation of the display driver. Restart the computer and wait for the Display Driver will automatically into your computer system.

2. Rename the Faulty Driver

If you seeing SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED and next to it you see a file name such as kongsgg.sys, handgkot.sys in the marks. Then we can easily rename the culprit driver into a different name that Windows cannot able to read it. So it will fence a new copy of the driver to resolve the issue.

Open the command prompt using the above-given step 1.

Now in the command prompt, enter the following command line.

c:

dir

If after the command line the target folder named shows “Windows” then its the target drive. Else not then change the command line and place of C: type D: and hit the Enter button.

After this enter this following command line

cd windows\system32\drivers

ren drivername.sys drivername.old

In the above command line change the name of the faulty driver by “drivename.sys”

Now restart your computer, the driver is deleted and the computer will fetch a new driver and the error will be resolved.

3. Reset Your Computer

Resetting the computer is the last option to over the BOSD error but this is an effective and ultimate way to get rid of the System Thread Exception not Handled including other issues. In case if you don’t know how to reset the PC running on Windows 10 then here are the steps to perform.

1. Press Windows + I button to open Windows Settings.

2. Now, Open the “Updates & Security” from all the given options.

3. From the left side menu list. Select the “Recovery” option.

4. On the right side of the window tab, Click on the “Get Started” given under Reset This PC.

Now follow on-screen instructions to reset your computer and once done. Wait for the few minutes to complete the reset and then access your computer without any error.
