How To Partition A Hard Disk Drive on Windows

When you finally insert the new hard drive and turn on your computer. You probably thinking after inserting a new hard drive it was ready to use. But you’ve to partition a hard drive disk from which windows start running on a new hard drive.

How To Partition A Hard Disk Drive

When we start talking about drives such as Local Disk C, D and so forth. But we’re actually talking about the partitions that were the physical section of the hard drive.

Every hard drive runs on at least one partition and when you install a secondary hard drive disk on your computer you have to create a new partition

Start Menu > Right Click on Computer > Select Manage

Computer Management > Click on Disk Management under the storage header.

Step 3 :

Step  4 :

The computer is likely configured new hard drive as “E” or “F” label

Windows 7, 8 and Windows 10 come with the reasonably useful partitioning tool that we use above called Disk Management.

Disk Management allows windows users to shrink the existing partition with the help of this tool you can easily shrink the volume of size.

How To Shrink Size of the Drives

It’s also a part of hard drive partition with the help of Shrink Volume, you can manage the size of drivers.

Step 1 : 

Open Disk Management by Right Click on Computer Icon and select Manage as shown on the above guide.

Step 2 : 

Choose the drive from which you want to shrink the volume. Right-click on it and select Shrink Volume. (It may take some time to open the shrink dialogue box)

Step 3: 

Enter the amount of space you want to shrink in MB on the drive. Let assume your drive has 30GB of free space and you want to shrink 20 GB.

Sometimes Disk Management can’t shrink the partition as far you want it. In that case, I recommend you to use the third-party program EASEUS Partition Master Free.
