Starting from the infinite durability to the knockback attacks, the enchantment table is the one. To make this table, you will require some rare ingredients. That is why you need to prepare yourself for an expedition.

How to Make Enchantment Table

Step 1:

At first, you have to mine for the diamonds. Diamond is one of the rarest ores that can only found in the deep underground. You have to search for this light blue ore on layers 5 to 12 for the best results. Dig until you find the bedrock. It is a solid grey block, so count 5 to 12 blocks above it. You have to mine the diamonds with an iron or gold pickaxe. Please remember, never to dig straight down.

A “staircase” mine will keep you safe from pits and lava. You’ll be requiring two diamonds to make an enchantment table. You’ll also be needing a diamond pickaxe to mine obsidian. It requires three more diamonds. You have to stick to the layers 11 and 12 to avoid most of the lava.

Step 2:

Now you have to create the obsidian. Obsidian is nothing but a dark black block that only appears when flowing water hits lava. You can make this happen by yourself by making the buckets out of three iron ingots. You need to scoop up lava with one bucket and pour it into a four-block pit. Then pour that water from a higher structure so that it flows down onto the lava. The lava must become obsidian.

Step 3:

You have to mine four obsidians with a diamond pickaxe. The Obsidian blocks will only drop the crafting materials if you use a diamond pickaxe.

Step 4:

You have to find or craft a book. You may break apart the bookshelves in the village or stronghold libraries to get ready-made books in hand. Alternatively, you may craft them by yourself:

  • After that, craft the enchantment table. You have to select the enchantment table recipe, or you have to combine the items as follows on the PC advanced crafting system:
  • On the top row: empty, the book is blank.
  • Same on the middle row: diamond, obsidian, diamond
  • Now on the bottom row: obsidian, obsidian, obsidian

Step 5:

Now place the enchantment table somewhere with two blocks of space on the three sides in a room at least two blocks high. It will give you the space to improve it with the bookshelves. Please craft bookshelves (it is optional). Nearby bookshelves will unlock more powerful enchantments from the enchantment table.

To make a bookshelf, you have to place three books in the center row, and then you have to fill the rest of the grid with planks. These powerful enchantments will also cost you more experience. You might want to skip this step in case you’re at a low level.

Step 7:

Next, you have to place the bookshelves to get the best enchantments, and for that, you’ll also need fifteen number of bookshelves. They must set as follows:

  • Either on the same game level as the table or just one block above it.
  • You have to keep precisely one empty block between the table and the shelf. Else the torches, or the snow will stop the effect.
