How to Backup Registry In Windows 11

Sometimes you have to make some changes in your computer and for that, you have to change registry settings before making any changes to your computer such as disabling USB ports etc or you have to make the backup registry in Windows and restore the registry of your computer.

There are different types of steps for Windows such as Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Restore the registry in Windows 11

Follow the steps to learn more about making a backup of the registry in Windows XP

Step 1 :

Go to the Start Menu, In Search type “Run” and hit enter.

Step 2 :

Now in the box type (%SystemRoot%system32restorerstrui.exe) and hit enter.

Step 3 :

You see the Welcome to System Restore page, now Create a restore point and tap on Next.

Step 4 :

Now enter the name of the restore file and tap on the Create button.

Step 5 :

When restore created tap on the Close button.

Restore the registry in Windows 10 and later versions

Currently, I am running Windows 7 on my laptop so read the step-by-step guide to restoring the registry along with images.

Step: 1

Go to the Start Menu > Open the Run

Step: 2 :

In the Run box type (regedit.exe) and hit enter

Step  3 : 

The Registry Editor pop-up now selects registry key, you want to back up

Step 4 :

Now go to the navigation bar and tap on File > Export

Step 5 :

Type the name and select the location, where you want to save the backup

Step 6 :

Hit Save button

Now you can easily generate a backup of the registry of your machine running Windows and if you running Windows 8 and 8.1 or Windows 10 follow the Windows 7 instructions to generate the backup.
